Filet-O-Fish on wheels
A road-legal Filet-O-Fish vehicle hit the roads of Invercargill this week and fittingly marked its rare outing with a visit to a McDonald’s drive-thru.
The unusual vehicle was built around a two-seater mini truck and used in 2019 for a promotional campaign involving McDonald’s and Uber Eats, reports Stuff.
The quirky bodywork features a giant bun, fish patty, cheese slice and tartare sauce and the licence plate says “OFISH”.
It was donated to Bill Richardson Transport World in Invercargill in 2021 and is one of the novelty models among the museum’s display of more than 300 vehicles.
The Filet-O-Fish on wheels ventured out this week for a special drive to celebrate the McDonald’s 50th anniversary in New Zealand and highlight some of the city’s attractions.
Courtney Russell, Transport World general manager, told Stuff it turned plenty of heads and its wide body meant “it was a bit touch and go” as it negotiated the fast-food chain’s drive-thru on Dee St.
