Auto Distributors New Zealand is warning drivers of some Citroen and DS models to stop driving the vehicles immediately due to faulty Takata airbags.

The company’s recall only covers grey imports from Singapore and affects the Citroen C3 and C4, and the DS3, DS4 and DS5 from the model years 2012-17.

A total of 36 parallel imported vehicles have been identified as needing airbags replaced and Auto Distributors NZ will contact customers affected by the stop-drive campaign directly.

Citroen says no New Zealand new vehicles are impacted by the recall notice on June 28.

“An ongoing global recall of Takata airbags for vehicles from several brands and manufacturers has been active for many years,” it  adds in a statement.

“They have been subject to a recall campaign since 2020, around the world. Owners of these vehicles have been repeatedly contacted and urged to seek the required repair immediately.

“We are now extending the urgency of this recall.”
