Introducing hybrid SUV ‘no-brainer’

Chery New Zealand has announced the addition of hybrid power to its Tiggo 4 range, describing the move as a “no-brainer”.
Similar to the petrol-powered models, the Tiggo 4 Hybrid is available in the entry-level Urban variant or as the top-of-the-range Ultimate.
Standard features on the SUV include a dual 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster and multimedia touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a “Hello Chery” voice control system.
Under the bonnet is Chery’s new series-parallel hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor.
The petrol engine produces a maximum power of 71kW and torque of 120Nm, while the electric motor delivers 150kW and 310Nm. Combined fuel economy is 5.4 litres per 100km.
Lucas Harris, chief operating officer, Chery NZ, says: “Introducing hybrid power to the Tiggo 4 range was a no-brainer. Customers want more for less and we aim to meet these demands with all our products.
“The Tiggo 4 Hybrid combines smart design, real-world efficiency and unbeatable value – all in one package.”
The Urban variant comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, four-speaker sound system dual-zone automatic air conditioning, seven airbags and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
Additional features for the Ultimate include a six-speaker sound system, red brake callipers, synthetic leather seats, heated front seats, 360-degree around view monitor and a power sunroof with retractable sunshade.
The Tiggo 4 Hybrid is now available in showrooms and pricing starts from $32,990 plus on-road costs.
