Huge yard for commercials
The Auckland branch of Turners Trucks & Machinery has moved to a massive new site in Drury that’s right next to SH1.
At 18,000 square metres, it’s about twice the size of the previous yard in Wiri, which the company says indicates how much it is backing the commercial division’s continued growth.
“Thousands of people will be driving past our new site every day, and the team there will be making sure all the gear is on display and looking good,” says Greg Hedgepeth, chief executive officer of Turners Auto Retail.
“There will be a giant Tina billboard on the side of the motorway as well to let everyone know exactly where the branch is.”
Turners believes the new facility is in a more convenient location for its customers and provides better ability to display clients’ assets. It also expects the size will allow better operational efficiency as well and it should create better sales results for their customers.
Hedgepeth adds: “There’s been lots of headlines around our cars business lately, but we are also the largest seller of trucks and machinery in New Zealand by some margin. The team is well-known for delivering great service to the massive database of customers we have collated over the years.
“It’s funny, Turners has been in the trucks and machinery business for more than 50 years, but some people only think about us selling cars.
“This branch should fix that in Auckland because it’s highly visible from the motorway. We expect it to give the commercial division a good lift in profile and attention, which can only have a positive effect on sales activity for our vendors.”
Turners Auto Retail has been consistently investing in its network of trucks and machinery branches over the past few years with bigger and better branches opening recently in Tauranga, Napier and Dunedin. More are being planned for the years ahead.
The new branch, whose staff are pictured above, is located at 1187a Great South Road in Drury, just off exit 461 heading south on SH1. The previous Wiri location will be redeveloped for a new cars branch that’s planned to open in the first quarter of 2027.
