Getting Fast and Furious
Organisers of the Melbourne Motor Show have announced a partnership with Universal Studios to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Fast & Furious franchise at this year’s show.
The partnership will feature a dedicated Fast & Furious fan experience to celebrate iconic on-screen moments, and its themes of family, loyalty and cars.
“Fast & Furious has always been about more than action – it’s about family, identity and a shared global culture,” says Mel Green, senior marketing manager at Universal Products & Experiences.
“Bringing the 25th anniversary to Melbourne allows us to celebrate the films in an immersive way while connecting with the passionate Australian fanbase that has grown with the franchise.”
Since making its debut in 2001, Fast & Furious has become one of the most successful and recognisable film franchises in modern cinema.
Melbourne Motor Show runs from April 10-12 at the city’s convention and exhibition centre. More than 20 cars will launch at the event and visitors can test drive about 90 models.
Meanwhile, JWW Capital, the private investment office of Australian entrepreneur Jordan Walsh, has made a strategic investment in Park Lane Global, the holding company behind Melbourne Motor Show and Auto Classica.
It marks a milestone for the city’s motor show and Auto Classica, the country’s newest premier celebration of classics and collectibles, which is scheduled to be hosted at the city’s Royal Exhibition Building in October.
The partnership also signals international ambitions for the group, with early plans under way to launch a flagship motor show in Dubai in 2028 to position the Melbourne-born brand on the global automotive events stage.
