Electric first for Honda

Honda has launched its first battery electric vehicle in New Zealand.
The e:N1 is a compact SUV that resembles the HR-V and is priced just above the top-of-the-range HR-V e:HEV hybrid.
It is a separate model in its own right and sits on a bespoke platform. The name has evolved from the model’s original e:NY1 badge, suggesting it’s an electric car “for anyone”.
The e:N1 boasts a 68.8kWh battery, single 150kW and 310Nm front-drive motor, and a WLTP range of 412km – and that’s being advertised as 500km in optimal motoring conditions.
The EV is available here in one specification. An eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone air conditioning with dust and pollen filters, and 15.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless phone projection come as standard.
Carolyn McMahon, managing director of Honda NZ, says: “This momentous introduction represents the start of a significant journey for our brand and underscores Honda’s commitment to a sustainable future.
“The e:N1 is the inaugural model in e:N series. This product combines our dynamic philosophy with a state-of-the-art electric platform, delivering a unique driving experience for today’s electrified landscape.”
Priced from $52,000, the e:N1 sits above the $48,500 HR-V Sport e:HEV and below the ZRV-V Sport e:HEV, which costs from $55,000. It’s available in two colours – aqua topaz metallic and platinum white pear.
