Corvette gets high-tech updates

The Chevrolet Corvette range in New Zealand has been updated with a range of technology for model year 2026 and features a new “cockpit-style cabin experience”.
GMSV is also making the vehicles the first in New Zealand to feature Chevrolet Connected Services, which brings Google-powered control to the cabin and allows for over-the-air updates.
Headlining the changes across the Stingray and E-Ray variants is a three-screen layout in the cabin, which aims to deliver all key driving information at a glance.
There is a 12.7-inch central display, an expanded 14-inch driver information screen, which acts as a digital dashboard, and a 6.6-inch screen to the right of the steering wheel shows driving information such as performance traction management.
Complementing the smaller diagonal touchscreen display is a switch that offers one-touch access to the performance traction management system, including the new PTM Pro Mode that turns off electronic stability control and traction control while leaving ABS on to minimise vehicle intervention for drivers.
Among the other key updates are a new drive mode selector placed in line with the gear selector and new display designs for Tour, Sport and Track modes.
A wireless charging pad is now positioned below the central screen and comes with a cover to keep your device held in place.
To further improve the functionality of the Corvette cabin, the volume control has been enlarged and is lit at its base to improve visibility at night, while climate controls have been repositioned to allow for the inclusion of a passenger grab handle.
Technology improvements outside of the cabin include the enhanced performance data recorder being overhauled, with features such as side-by-side video analysis and “speed tips” coaching now delivering real-time performance insights from the vehicle screen.
The Performance App, previously exclusive to E-Ray but now across all Corvette models, has been updated with further capability.
The powertrain for the new model year remains unchanged and the Corvette’s LT2 6.2-litre V8 engine, with or without electrical assistance, is paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Jess Bala, managing director of General Motors Australia and New Zealand, says: “When it comes to updating a vehicle as iconic and revered as the Corvette, the recipe is clear – improve the experience for the driver and passenger without ever detracting, or distracting, from the drive experience.
“The 2026 Corvette range perfects the brief, with new driver-focused technology, a reimagined cabin experience, and the introduction of Chevrolet Connected Services all joining the most pure and exhilarating driving experience available today.”
Pricing starts from $203,990.
