Triton defies market trend

There were 2,927 new commercials registered last month, a drop of 27.2 per cent when compared with 4,019 in July 2025. 

Ford’s Ranger was the best-selling model in July with 738 units, down 11.8 per cent from the 837 units sold in the same month a year ago. 

Next was the Toyota Hilux on 608 registrations, a year-on-year drop of 29.9 per cent from 867. 

Mitsubishi’s Triton, pictured, was third with 335 sales after a 21.4 per cent increase from 276 units in July 2025. It was also the only model in last month’s top 10 to record a year-on-year climb in activity.

The BYD Shark 6 was next with 207 sales and Toyota’s Hiace completed the top five after securing 199 registrations.

The Ranger tops the year-to-date standings with 5,653 registrations and a 24.7 per cent share of the market.

In second place is the Hilux on 4,271 and 18.7 per cent, and the Triton is third on 2,265 units and 9.9 per cent.

The market’s year-to-date total stands at 22,899 units.

Toyota claimed the number one spot on the marques’ ladder in July with 846 registrations, down 26.4 per cent from 1,149 a year ago, and a market share of 28.9 per cent.

Ford was next on 800 units, a drop of 13.7 per cent from 927, and Mitsubishi was third with 335, a jump of 21.4 per cent from 276 a year ago.

Ford is top of the year-to-date charts with 6,341 registrations and a market share of 27.7 per cent. Toyota is second with 6,126 and 26.8 per cent and Mitsubishi completes the top three on 2,265 and 9.9 per cent.

Used sector buoyant

As for used-imported commercials, the 435 units registered in July was up 30.2 per cent from 334 in the same month last year. This brings the year-to-date total to 2,773.

Toyota’s Hiace was the leading model last month on 179 registrations, up from 72 in July 2025, and a market share of 41.1 per cent.

Next were Nissan’s NV200 with 16 sales, the LDV T60 on 19, Isuzu’s Elf with 18 and the Ranger and Hino’s Dutro shared fifth place with 16 registrations.

The Hiace has clocked 1,129 sales year-to-date for a 40.7 per cent market share, and Nissan’s NV200 is second on 153 and 5.5 per cent.

Toyota was the top marque last month with 204 registrations, a 75.9 per cent increase from 116 a year ago.

Nissan followed with 67 and the top five was rounded off by Isuzu on 26, LDV with 24 and Ford on 23.

Year to date, Toyota has 1,357 registrations and a 48.9 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 469 and 16.9 per cent, with Ford third on 144 and 5.2 per cent.
