Touring variant set for NZ
Subaru has confirmed an all-electric and all-new model will join its New Zealand line-up in September.
The Trailseeker Touring will represent the marque’s electric SUV option here. Producing 280kW of maximum combined power and making the 0-100kph dash in 4.4 seconds, it’s one of the fastest-accelerating production Subarus ever built.
With 211mm of ground clearance, symmetrical all-wheel drive (AWD) and a low centre of gravity, it “brings genuine all-terrain confidence, wrapped in a dynamic and purposeful design”.
At the heart of Trailseeker is the marque’s next-generation e-Subaru global platform, which has been developed to support higher outputs, extended range and better AWD performance.
The rigid architecture intelligently manages power delivery, traction and balance in real-time to create a driving experience “defined by composure, assurance and control” on sealed roads, rough surfaces and longer-distance journeys.
Power is supplied by a 74.7kWh CATL battery for a range of up to 488km. With 150kW DC fast-charging, the Trailseeker can go from 10-80 per cent in some 30 minutes, while 22kW three-phase AC charging and 1500W vehicle-to-load capability supports versatility and everyday usability. It has a 1,500kg braked towing capacity.
“After we sold out of Solterra in New Zealand, we’ve been eagerly awaiting a new EV Subaru here and the Trailseeker is a fantastic option,” says Jerry Delaney, general manager of Inchcape NZ.
“It delivers electric performance without compromising on confidence, control or real-world capability. The bonus is the Trailseeker is a seriously quick EV and, as the fastest Subaru production vehicle ever, New Zealanders are going to love its performance in all conditions.
“While it joins the updated Solterra and the all-new Uncharted in the global electric range – now united under Subaru’s sport electric vehicle category – we will be focusing solely on the Trailseeker Touring at this stage. Inchcape NZ will be assessing other Subaru EVs and will keep customers updated on any changes to our line-up.”
Further details on detailed specifications and pricing be announced closer to launch this year.
