Throwback looks for GT

Audi’s Avant GT, which sits atop the marque’s RS 6 line-up, is set to arrive on our shores later this year.

New Zealand’s allocation is 13 out of 660 being made, and the model boasts new styling appointments and a paint scheme from days past.

In addition to taking inspiration from the IMSA racer, many of the RS 6 Avant GT’s looks also come from the RS 6 GTO concept of 2020.

Greg Leet, general manager of Audi NZ, says: “The RS 6 has always been the pinnacle of our RS offering and we know Kiwis love it.

“Almost 25 per cent of our overall volume is made up of RS models. With New Zealand set to receive only 13 of these limited editions, we expect there won’t be enough to meet demand.”

The incoming model has exclusive parts, such as a carbon-fibre bonnet and front fenders, 22-inch wheels, and a double-wing and rear diffuser.

Inside, black leather and dinamica microfibre is used throughout contrasted by red and copper stitching on the steering wheel. The floor mats have RS 6 GT lettering and each car’s serial number can be found on the centre console.

Power output hasn’t changed from the four-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which produces 463kW and 850Nm of torque.

That said, Audi has cut the Avant GT’s 0-100kph time by 0.3 seconds compared to the base RS 6’s 3.3 seconds. There’s also a specially tuned rear differential.

New Zealand pricing has yet to be revealed with deliveries slated to start in 2024’s final quarter.
