SUV given ‘more-chiselled’ look

Mazda New Zealand is celebrating the unveiling of the all-new 2026 CX-5, which is set to begin launching globally from the end of this year.
The CX-5 made its debut in 2012 and has sold more than 4.5 million units worldwide, including over 33,000 in New Zealand.
The third-generation model has a longer wheelbase than its predecessors and delivers a more spacious cabin that features intuitive technology.
More angular lighting elements provide the car’s front end with “a more chiselled, wider-set look” and bold “Mazda” lettering across the rear replaces the marque’s traditional badge.
The door openings of the all-new CX-5 are larger, allowing easier ingress and egress, and passenger comfort has also been enhanced thanks to increased rear leg, knee and headroom.
On the technology front, there is a newly available 15.6-inch integrated touchscreen display, the largest ever offered on a Mazda vehicle.
Powering the SUV is a 2.5-litre SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard i-Activ AWD.
An electrified alternative is also coming and the CX-5 will debut a new hybrid powertrain to the Mazda family from the end of 2027.
