SUV gets plugged in

GWM has added a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant to its H6 SUV line-up.
The powertrain is available with the range-topping Ultra in two-wheel drive (2WD), pictured, for $50,990. That’s $5,000 more than the standard non-plug-in, or AWD for $53,990.
Both versions are less powerful than the 321kW and 762Nm offered in the H6 GT. The H6 SUV 2WD PHEV notches up 240kW and 540Nm, while the AWD delivers 268kW and 760Nm.
Both Ultra PHEVs boast a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with dual-electric motors. The AWD also features GWM’s hybrid intelligent 4WD system, which helps it to make the 100kph dash in 4.9 seconds.
Pure electric range is 106km for the 2WD and 100km for the AWD on the NEDC test regime. Both PHEV variants have CCS2 charging port and are capable of fast DC charging from 30 to 80 per cent in less than 30 minutes.
