This odd-looking, bright yellow vehicle was specifically created with surfers in mind during the 1960s and even made a few appearances on the silver screen.

The single-seater Surfite is powered by a chrome-plated 1,269cc Austin engine from a Mini, which was reportedly found at a scrap yard, and features space for a surfboard.

A dream machine for beach bums, it was the brainchild of American custom car builder Ed “Big Daddy” Roth.

While the Surfite isn’t one of Roth’s better-known creations, the buggy got some screen time in the US films Bikini Beach, Beach Blanket Bingo and The Village of the Giants.
