Revamped RAV4 revealed

The RAV4 is set to be released in a sixth generation that will make the SUV “even more enthralling” for new-car buyers.
Toyota’s upgrades include an exterior and interior redesign, the latest generation hybrid electric-petrol powertrain, styling and safety technology.
The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant will support the company’s multi-pathway powertrain strategy. By offering engine options, it says customers can choose what best suits their lifestyle.
And offering the new-generation RAV4 as a petrol hybrid and plug-in allows buyers to “dip deeper into the EV powertrain”.
The new-generation RAV4 PHEV will offers two wheel or all-wheel drive (AWD), targets an increased EV range and has a lower emissions impact than hybrid counterparts.
Then there will be Toyota NZ’s first-ever GR Sport with its “powerful and efficient” PHEV AWD powertrain. The line-up will again offer the Adventure grade.
“From its inception in 1994, the RAV4 has been an outstanding expression of a crossover SUV, bred for city and country use,” says Tatsuya Ishikawa, chief executive officer. “Through five generations, it has evolved into an important model loved in 180 countries and regions.”
The sixth-generation RAV4 hybrid systems use the marque’s latest technology with enhanced efficiency for the transaxle, power control unit, battery and electric motors.
Globally, the new model gains extra safety features such as front cross-traffic alert, which is designed to minimise the risk of a collision with crossing traffic at intersections, while the blind-spot monitor now includes the rear-vehicle approach indicator feature.
More information on the new-generation RAV4, including local specifications, will be made available closer to its arrival in the first half of 2026.
