Porsche pulls EV crossover

Porsche expects to launch a crossover above the midsize Cayenne initially with combustion and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains instead of making it all-electric as previously announced.
It adds the development of a new platform for EVs in the 2030s is being rescheduled and the launch of certain fully electric models will now will take place at a later date.
Porsche’s existing EV range is being updated. A Cayenne EV is slated for debut this year and a future two-door electric sports car remains on its books.
It has attributed market conditions for its realignment of product strategy and has yet to state when the new crossover, which is codenamed K1, will launch.
While the carmaker previously said the Cayenne and Panamera would be available well into the 2030s with combustion and PHEV powertrains, it added new generations of successor models have been added to the two models’ cycle plans.
Porsche also will include a combustion engine option for high-end versions of the next-generation 718 Boxster and Cayman.
Stellantis, meanwhile, has canned its PHEV Jeep Gladiator 4xe amid an ongoing reassessment of its product plans.
The cancellation is effective immediately, and all related activities and agreements will be concluded. The model was due to be released in 2026.
The all-electric Ram 1500 was recently axed because of sluggish demand for e-trucks, while Chrysler, Alfa Romeo and Maserati have all dropped plans to go EV-only by the end of the decade.
