Patrol production starts for NZ
Production of the all-new Nissan Patrol has officially started in Japan, with the first right-hand-drive units rolling off the line destined for New Zealand and Australia.
The vehicles are being built at the marque’s plant in Kyushu, south-west Japan, and are on track to launch in New Zealand in the coming months. The first customer deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
Built on a revamped ladder-frame chassis, the model features larger frame side members to deliver higher static torsional stiffness than the outgoing Y62 Patrol.
The new side members also contribute to a 40 per cent increase in torsional rigidity, while also improving noise, vibration and harshness, handling and ride comfort.
Maximum braked towing capacity has increased to 3,700kg and the all-new Patrol also features high-strength steel in 27 per cent of its body structure.
Using 21 per cent more high-strength steel than the Y62 creates a stronger and more rigid body structure, supporting enhanced durability and occupant protection while helping optimise overall vehicle weight.
