Open day makes comeback

A classics and collectables open day that made its debut last year was so popular it’s being brought back for 2026.

There were about 35 cars on display at Mercedes-Benz Auckland in 2025 and the dealership on Great South Road, Newmarket, is on track to have a similar number again this year.

Kylee Thornton-Fox, marketing manager, says: “There will be a mix of returning favourites and ‘new’ vehicles that weren’t part of the previous line-up.

“A few of the confirmed heavy hitters so far include a 2014 SLS Black Series, 1960 190 SL, 1967 280 SL Pagoda and 2001 G 500 Cabriolet. We’re also expecting some cool additions, pending final confirmation, such as an SLR McLaren 190 Evolution 2 and 560 SEC Coupé.”

This year’s open day is taking place on March 21 from 10am–2pm. It’s a relaxed event that gives the public a chance to check out a “seriously interesting mix of Mercedes-Benz machinery” at one location. Click here for a video of 2025’s event.
