New expo focuses on EVs
Dealers, distributors and manufacturers are being encouraged to get in front of consumers with their latest battery EV (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) offerings as part of a new expo being held in Auckland this year.
The NZ EV & Tech Expo will provide drivers with the chance to test drive vehicles from leading brands and examine the latest charging technologies at Auckland Showgrounds from November 13-15.
Squid Group is marketing the event and says it offers an opportunity to put industry experts in front of consumers in an engaging and immersive environment.
Laurence Carey, managing director, adds that while buyers typically begin their search online, experiencing emerging technologies in person and speaking to experts remains a key part of the decision-making process.
“There’s a lot of interest in EVs and plug-in hybrids, but for many people the market still feels crowded and confusing,” he explains.
“This expo gives people the chance to compare the latest models in person and actually test drive a few vehicles before making the decision to buy.
“Every major electric and hybrid brand will be under one roof. For someone trying to make a decision, that’s genuinely rare, and it changes the whole experience.”
The three-day event is expected to attract business owners and fleet decision-makers looking at lower-emission vehicle options, as well as everyday consumers.
There will also be a range of educational seminars, with topics expected to include financing options, battery safety, advanced driver assistance systems, and government support and EV infrastructure roll-out across New Zealand.
Carey says early exhibitor interest has been encouraging, with confirmed brands already representing a meaningful share of New Zealand’s EV and PHEV market.
Those already confirmed for the expo include Arcfox, Baic, Dongfeng, Geely, Farizon, Leapmotor, Lotus, Polestar, Smart, Volvo and Zeekr.
Geely is the title automotive sponsor of the event and Jordan Haines, the company’s brand manager, says it is committed to electrifying New Zealand’s future by bringing accessible vehicles to market at price parity with internal combustion engine models.
