New director for Honda NZ

Carolyn McMahon has been appointed director of Honda New Zealand at the same time as being promoted to vice-president for the marque’s operations in Australia.

She takes on the two roles after spending the past seven years as director at Honda Australia.

In 2017, McMahon, pictured, became the first female director of the company across the ditch and now holds the first-ever title of vice-president of Honda Australia and director of Honda NZ.

“I am honoured to take on this new and exciting position as vice-president of Honda Australia,” she says.

“We have been working closely with our Honda colleagues in New Zealand for some time and this appointment as director of Honda New Zealand will only strengthen those connections and work efficiencies across our agency structure and business operations.”

She has worked at Honda Australia for nearly 29 years and filled a number of senior leadership roles including some covering business services, dealer business, sales and marketing, and human resources.

Supporting McMahon in her new role is Robert Thorp, who has returned to Honda Australia as general manager of automotive after a short time away as chief executive officer of Melbourne-based iMotor, an industry leader in automotive digital retailing.

He was previously with Honda Australia for 12 years where he held senior leadership roles in the business services, customer experience and customer network divisions.

In addition, Nicholas Beattie, general manager of business services, has become company secretary to support the board of directors and senior leadership team.
