Helping you to drift off...

The UK’s official rulebook for road use, and unfortunately also one of the nation’s dullest books, has been reimagined as an unlikely aid for a good night’s sleep.

Created by Scrap Car Comparison, the UK’s biggest such provider, The Highway Code: Bedtime Story has just been narrated by Fifth Gear presenter Vicki Butler-Henderson, pictured.

The audiobook leans into the fact the code is already quite yawn-inducing and scientific evidence shows humans can “learn” while in noddy land.

With data showing nearly six in every 10 UK drivers struggle to get consistently restful sleep and half haven’t even read the rules of the road since passing their test, the softly spoken bedtime story could be exactly what they need.

Although focused on British rules, such is the dullness of its content, the audiobook is likely to help anyone drift off – in bed preferably – and may even be helpful to Kiwis planning a tiki tour of that far-flung motu.

The whole thing comes in at four hours and 37 minutes. However, you may prefer to watch below for a wee teaser to get you into the mood.
