GWM turns to local leader

GWM has appointed Cameron Thomas as its New Zealand country manager, effective from September 1.
Thomas, pictured, has more than 20 years of experience across global and local markets.
Most recently, he was network strategy director at Ford New Zealand after spending more than nine years as the company’s director of marketing.
During his decade at Ford, Thomas played a pivotal role in driving strategic growth, strengthening customer engagement and elevating dealer network performance.
GWM notes he was a key figure in maintaining Ford’s 14 per cent market share and cementing the Ranger’s position as New Zealand’s best-selling vehicle for 10 consecutive years.
Before joining Ford, Thomas worked for Vodafone in the UK and Luxembourg and also spent 15 months as GM Holden’s brand manager in New Zealand from February 2006.
John Kett, chief commercial officer of GWM ANZ, says: “We’re pleased to confirm the appointment of Cameron Thomas as the new country manager for GWM New Zealand.
“Cameron brings extensive industry experience and proven leadership from his time at Ford and his appointment represents another important step in GWM’s long-term commitment to the New Zealand market.
“This move aligns with our previously stated ambition – that we must look, sound and feel like a Kiwi brand.
“Having local leadership on the ground is essential to building trust and maintaining strong connections with our customers and dealers.
“Our dealer network is engaged with the brand and we’re confident that Cameron will play a pivotal role in leading GWM’s next phase of growth in New Zealand.”
