Duck caught on speed camera

Law enforcers in Switzerland had a sense of deja vu after a duck was caught swooping past a speed camera at 52kph, topping the area’s speed limit of 30kph and setting off the device.
The incident in the town of Koeniz was the second time in seven years a mallard had been clocked by the camera at that pace, with the first case happening on the same day in 2018.
Officials at the town council have been wondering if the drake snapped by the camera on April 13, pictured above, is the same one as before. In a Facebook post it labelled the bird “a notorious speeder and repeat offender”.
Police say it is impossible to doctor images or manipulate the radar system because the computers are calibrated annually and the photos are sealed.
The council’s post concludes: “We hope you enjoy pondering curious coincidences, criminal activities of animals and the maximum flight speed of ducks.”
