Double act’s ‘bonus’ advert

The Two Ronnies are best known for their hit sketch shows on TV in the 1970s and 1980s but they also turned their humour to advertising cars.

The video below shows the pair, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett, in British Leyland’s “double bonus” campaign.

Barker delivers a number of witty quips as Corbett, playing a tax inspector, quizzes him about his financial situation and why he has four cars.

Cars featured in the advert are the Morris Ital, Mini HL, Austin Allegro Series 3 and Austin Princess Series 2.

It isn’t the comedy duo’s first foray into automotive advertising after they hilariously helped promote British Leyland’s selection of Austin Morris models in 1979.
