Done deal for Armstrong’s
Armstrong’s has welcomed a number of established Auckland automotive businesses into its national network.
The company has completed the acquisition of ASX-listed Eagers Automotive’s franchised operations here, including North Harbour Ford, John Andrew Ford, John Andrew Mazda, Manukau Nissan and Manukau MG, alongside associated service centres and trade parts operations.
Armstrong’s believes Kiwis are entering a period of unprecedented choice and this purchase positions the company to help customers navigate that future.
The expansion will provide greater access to new and used vehicles across an increasingly diverse range of brands backed by a nationwide network of sales, servicing and after-sales specialists.
The takeover significantly expands Armstrong’s presence across Auckland, particularly on the North Shore and in south Auckland, while introducing Ford and MG to its portfolio and strengthening its representation of existing automotive brands.
Armstrong’s now represents more than 25 brands across 25-plus dealerships and more than 60 locations including satellite service, parts and panel centres. It also has more than 2,500 vehicles in stock and a team of about 1,000 employees.
Armstrong’s executive director, Rick Armstrong, pictured, says the expansion reflects the group’s longstanding focus on customers, people and building a business that continues to evolve with New Zealand motorists.
He adds: “Buying a vehicle is a significant decision and we want to make that experience as straightforward and enjoyable as possible, whether someone is purchasing their first car, upgrading their family vehicle or looking after a car they’ve owned for years.
“We’re particularly proud to be taking on some of Auckland’s most recognisable automotive dealership sites, including landmark facilities in Grey Lynn, the North Shore and Manukau. These have a long history in their communities, supported by experienced teams who have built strong relationships with generations of customers.
“We’re delighted to welcome those teams into Armstrong’s and look forward to building on their legacy while investing in their future success.”
Troy Kennedy, Armstrong’s chief executive officer, adds the acquisition will allow the company to further invest in the services and experiences customers increasingly expect.
“While many industries have spent the past few years talking about uncertainty, we’re seeing something different. Consumers are taking longer to decide, they’re researching more than ever and want trusted advice. That’s where scale and experience become increasingly important.
“Customers want choice, convenience and confidence when purchasing and maintaining a vehicle. They also expect the experience to be consistent, whether they’re engaging with a dealership in person or online.
“Expanding our network allows us to bring together an even wider range of vehicles and brands, greater specialist expertise and more convenient servicing locations, while continuing to invest in the technology, facilities and people that support customers.
“Importantly, our growth creates opportunities to deliver a more connected experience across the group, making it easier for customers to find the right vehicle, access the right services and maintain their relationship with Armstrong’s throughout their ownership journey.”
The deal adds six service centres and a trade-parts operation to Armstrong’s existing network, further expanding its capability to support customers beyond the initial vehicle purchase.
Kennedy says the purchase also reflects Armstrong’s confidence in the long-term future of New Zealand’s automotive market.
“There has never been more choice available to motorists. Whether it’s petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicles, customers have access to a wider range of brands, technologies and price points than ever before.”
The newly acquired dealerships started operating under Armstrong’s ownership on November 1 with existing teams continuing to support customers and focus on a smooth transition.
