Director gains board promotion
Noel Johnston, a long-standing shareholder and director, has become deputy chair of MTF Finance’s board.
He has more than four decades of involvement with the company and first joined the business as a shareholder in 1985 after starting his career as a motor-vehicle dealer in Dunedin.
Over that time, Johnston, pictured, has played a key role in the growth and evolution of the business, including establishing and operating multiple MTF franchises across Otago and Central Otago.
He says: “MTF has always been about people – local people helping local people. I’m looking forward to continuing to work alongside the board and management team to build on that legacy, and ensure we keep delivering for our customers, shareholders and communities.”
Board chair Mark Darrow adds: “Noel brings a rare combination of governance experience and grassroots understanding of our network.
“He has lived and breathed the MTF model for decades as a dealer, franchise owner, shareholder and director. That perspective is incredibly valuable as we continue to grow and evolve.”
Johnston was first appointed to the company’s finance board in 2019, and has since contributed across key governance areas, including credit and nominations committees.
Following Darrow’s retirement, Johnston will serve as acting chairman until a permanent appointment is confirmed.
