Coupe being built to order

General Motors says its 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 destined for down under will start rolling out of the factory in January.

Powered by the hand-assembled LT6 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8, it delivers 475kW of power and an 8,600rpm redline, combining its high-revving performance with the new three-screen cockpit and expanded performance technology.

The announcement follows the launch of the model-year 2026 Corvette Stingray and E-Ray, as well as the limited-run Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Special Edition.

The model-year 2027 Corvette Z06 3LZ Coupe is priced from $309,990 in New Zealand, plus on-roads costs. It’s being offered exclusively through a build-to-order model with every vehicle made to a confirmed customer specification.

The model-year Z06 is offered in the high-grade 3LZ Coupe configuration as standard. Standard equipment includes GT2 bucket seats with napa-leather upholstery and carbon-fibre garnish, sueded microfibre upper interior trim, carbon-fibre steering wheel detailing and paddles, and a head-up display.

Then there’s the Bose 14-speaker Performance Series audio system, front lift with memory, performance data recorder, removable roof, soft close “frunk” and rear-

• Carbon-fibre ground effects, a carbon fibre or transparent removable roof and an engine appearance package including carbon fibre close out panels, LED engine lighting and a red engine cover option.

• Brembo performance carbon-ceramic brakes and six different brake caliper colour options including orange or blue-painted when specified with the available carbon-ceramic brake package.

• Full-length racing stripes in multiple colour combinations.

Cockpit gets makeover

The reimagined Corvette cockpit features a 14-inch driver-information centre, 12.7-inch centre display, 6.6-inch auxiliary touchscreen positioned to the right of the steering wheel, a relocated drive-mode selector, and wireless charging and additional USB-C connectivity.

There’s also enhanced performance data recorder functionality, including side-by-side video analysis and automated speed tips, dedicated access to performance traction management, including PTM pro mode, Chevrolet Connected Services and Google Maps built-in, Google Gemini, Google Play Store, the marque’s mobile app and over-the-air updates, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Customer orders are now open for the Z06 open from 1 October 2026. Production is scheduled to start at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant, Kentucky, in January 2027. Delivery timing will depend on individual vehicle specifications and production scheduling.
