Clumsy arsonists torch own car

A trio of bumbling arsonists have been caught on camera accidentally setting fire to their own getaway car.
South Australia Police released security camera footage of the incident in Port Pirie, near Adelaide, that shows two men throwing liquid over the front of a house before the group’s escape plan goes awry.
A car can be seen in the video pulling up outside a property before the front-seat passenger gets out carrying a container and tosses accelerant at the building.
A second man then sprays a substance at the house but in the pair’s hasty and clumsy efforts, a substantial amount of the liquid spills onto the footpath.
Moments after the pair are back inside the car, it bursts into flames and the trio quickly abandon the vehicle as it rolls down the street.
Police say when officers arrived at the scene of the June 16 incident they extinguished the burning car and a fire at the front of the home using a fire extinguisher.
The property’s occupants were not injured but the house’s exterior was left charred by the flames.
