Celebrating dealer commitment
Suzuki New Zealand has dished out a number of awards to its best-selling dealerships as part of a celebration in Wellington.
Holland’s Suzuki Cars in Christchurch took out the overall top prize, which was based on total sales volumes for 2025.
Gary Collins, Suzuki NZ chief executive officer, says: “With a long history of more than 33 years selling Suzuki vehicles, Holland’s Suzuki Cars not only rank as our highest selling dealer but also top our service retention rankings with outstanding service packages and customer retention.
“With over 60 years’ experience in the motor industry, Gordon Holland has developed a customer-focused culture with his well-established team and the results speak for themselves.”
Next were two Auckland businesses, with Winger Suzuki Greenlane in second and West City Suzuki the third best-performer.
Excellence in sales prizes were also awarded across three other categories. Alan Berry Motors in Gisborne won the rural section, Hawke’s Bay Suzuki and Whanganui’s David Jones Motors shared top honours in the provincial class, and Mexted Motors in Wellington scooped the urban title.
Collins says Suzuki’s dealerships across New Zealand have all adapted to many challenges over the past couple of years and continued to look after and provide outstanding support to vehicle owners.
The company also acknowledged its long-standing relationship with dealers and staff at the recent event in the capital, which coincided with the launch of the marque’s e Vitara.
Motorworld Suzuki in Blenheim, previously known as Wadsco Motorworld, has represented Suzuki for more than 40 years. Wadsco Motorworld was established when John Wadsworth and Rex Scoble purchased Terry Motors in 1984 taking over the Suzuki franchise from that point.
“In 2020 the dealership was rebranded to Motorworld with Jared and Melanie Morris at the helm, and throughout the 40-plus years the dealership has been a strong Suzuki performer amongst our top market share dealerships,” says Collins.
“We also acknowledged Steven Hanna from Winger Greenlane after 40 years selling Suzuki. Commencing with Perry Motors in 1986, Steven later moved to be part of the Winger Motors team based in Greenlane.
“Throughout that time Steven has built long-term relationships with literally thousands of happy Suzuki customers.”
Collins adds the marque was also delighted to recently retain the Canstar customer satisfaction award, which he says is largely because of the long-term commitment of its dealers and their staff to look after Suzuki customers.
“So to be able to recognise some of those contributing to that result was an honour for the team at Suzuki New Zealand,” he continues.
Representatives from across the marque’s network attended the awards event and among them was Alan Berry, who says he was proud his eponymous business in Gisborne was named the top rural dealer.
“This achievement is a reflection of the hard work and dedication present in our sales and workshop teams every day,” he notes.
“We wish to acknowledge our workshop teams’ ongoing dedication to their studies, factory training and loyalty, providing peace of mind to our clients who entrust us with their vehicles and on-road safety.
“Most importantly, massive thanks to our client base, your trust, loyalty and support have made this possible. Here’s to continuing to deliver superb service, great vehicles and many more miles together in 2026.”
Winger Motors sent its congratulations to Hanna, Praveen Menon and the team at Winger Suzuki Greenlane in an online message after the prizegiving.
