Car advert takes the cake

Skoda cooked up a treat when advertising one of its models by creating a full-size Fabia out of cake.

The campaign shows a team of bakers meticulously putting together the sweet sculpture before ending with the tagline, “full of lovely stuff”.

Nearly 200 eggs and 100 bags of sugar went into the project, and the video also shows golden syrup being poured into what appears to be an edible engine.

Other tasty elements include pastry seats, tyres made of chocolate fondant, liquorice windscreen wipers and a dusting of icing sugar on the roof.

The 60-second advert, which is soundtracked by Julie Andrews’ My Favourite Things, was a critical, financial and popular success when screened in the UK in 2007.
