New seven-seater to hit market

The wraps have come off the all-new seven-seat Mazda CX-80 following on from the recent launch of the CX-60 and CX-90.

The marque’s first-ever CX-80 has been confirmed for New Zealand and is the next model to be engineered on the company’s large architecture platform.

At almost five metres long and sharing the CX-90’s extended wheelbase, it will offer “supreme levels of space, comfort and versatility” for up to seven occupants.

Continuing with the latest evolution of Mazda’s Kodo approach, the designers have focused on the “elegance and purity of a minimalist Japanese aesthetic” by combining a striking design inside and out and using high-quality materials in the cabin.

The model will be available from launch with an e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain, combining a four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor.

First seen on the CX-60 with a system output of 241kW of power and 500Nm of torque, the plug-in hybrid powertrain offers strong and engaging performance along with environmental credentials.

Available exclusively with Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive (AWD) system, its rear-biased and permanent system combines the stability and traction of AWD with the neutral cornering characteristics of a rear-wheel drive set-up.

With local arrivals expected in the second half of 2024, further information on powertrains, specification and pricing will be shared in due course.
